Rotations at Joe’s Record Paradise

When I bumped in to Professor-M at the Beat Konductaz #ALITTLELOUDER beat battle earlier this year (after not seeing him for well over a decade), he mentioned that he set up a weekly beat cipher at Joe’s Record Paradise in Silver Spring, MD. The event is called Rotations at Joe’s and essentially is an open invitation to local beat makers and producers who are brave enough to play their creations in front of a crowd.

If you are interested in playing a set, get in touch with professor-M via his RotationsMD page on Facebook. He describes the event as “A weekly Producer Showcase” and encourages anyone who is sitting on a stash of dope beats to stop by on Friday nights and share them with . Likewise, he invites fans of good music in general, to come through to buy Vinyl, CD’s DVD’s, Posters, Zines or Tapes and support a classic staple in the local hip hop community.

“I want to give exposure to myself and like minded people who are dedicated to and work hard at their craft.”

If you have been living under a rock and haven’t heard of Joe’s I highly recommend checking them out. You won’t find any bargain bins here but there are definitely gems to be found if you dig and are willing to part with some ducats.

So anyways, fast forward to several weeks after the battle, and I find out the homie Vers was going to be in town and reached out to Professor-M to see if he was about letting us come through to politic and play some joints. Figured I might as well see if Grussle was free and the rest is history.

Professor-M set it off and and we each rotated playing a 30 minute set of beats and exclusive remixes. I got a chance to work some kinks out of my live beat set, but more importantly 4 homies spread across 3 states got a chance to chop it up and share a dope moment.
