"With the ability to create high-quality beats,
comes great responsibility..."
Raised in Silver Spring, MD, Pheem established a vibrant connection to music early on in life and hasn’t let go of it since. From his earliest days of playing trumpet & piano in middle-school, to making his first beats via Playstation’s MTV Music Generator, by the time Pheem was in high-school – he developed a natural appreciation for sounds of all kinds & a diverse range of styles as well.
It wouldn’t be long before he begged his mom for his first piece of music production gear, which she was kind enough to put on layaway – a brand-new Korg Triton.
“Back then there was no FL studio or Ableton Live so hardware was necessary. I learned to play piano on an old Wurlitzer electric piano we found at a garage sale for $100. I would lay down all these melodies to a tape recorder but had nothing to program drums with yet. I eventually wore my mom down and she got me the Triton.”
But with the ability to create high-quality beats, comes great responsibility – Pheem immediately began to raise the stakes & standards of his material & refine his sound, flexing the creativity & innovation required to stand apart from the rest.
He started recording his first tracks in his bedroom, often collaborating with other friends from high-school developing his new skillset as a producer. In college, with a reputation for his music now becoming established, Pheem continued to make neck snapping beats and record with local emcees. He released his first mixtapes and hosted Freestyle Fridays. With everything rolling in the right direction and the hype surrounding Pheem growing exponentially by the day – it seemed like he was on his way to a promising career in music. Then things changed – his time at college ended, priorities were shifting and there was less time for music but the passion for music never truly left the man.
